At 37 yo and with 2 kids under her belt, this Mom of 2 decided it was time to finally correct the shape of her breasts. She always knew that her shape was different from other women but she didn’t know why. She had been told that she had a “tubular shape” and she wanted to learn more about what this meant and if breast implants would help improve her shape.
Fortunately, she had a great aesthetician and this lady referred her to Dr. Mahony for a consultation. And the visit was well worth it! She learned she had what’s called constricted breasts such that the areola are wide have a fibrous ring around them, constricting the breast tissue. Also, the distance from the nipple to the fold is short (aka restricted). This makes her breasts narrow and tubular in shape.
Although a breast augmentation would give her breasts a rounder more pleasing shape, she also required a release of the fibrous tissue and ring to allow the breast to take on a more relaxed posture. Otherwise, the breast would be limited in adjusting to the implant shape. Corrective Breast Surgery was her best option.
